Week 1 - Introduction: Joe Tuttle

Hello, my name is Joe Tuttle and this is an introduction to me for Mod 5 - Digital Photography.

I am currently a senior at Albertus Magnus college majoring in Business Management - Marketing, having restarted this journey in March 2020 after a long 14 year "pause". Born and raised in Connecticut, I was originally enrolled in the New Dimensions program that Albertus Magnus offered until I took a job transfer with The Hartford to Tampa, Florida and put completing my degree on hold. That hold turned out to last much longer than expected!

I have lived in and outside of Washington, DC for the past 10 years. Age 40 was approaching very fast and I decided to set some goals for myself, one of which was completing my degree. Getting in the best shape of my life was also a goal, however due to the Covid 19 pandemic I need not say more.

While I have spent the majority of my professional adult life in the insurance industry, in 2018 I stepped away from insurance to help my partner expand and grow his small commercial design business. Luckily this has also provided a good work/life balance to allow me to go back to school. 

With travel being something most weren't able to do during the pandemic, we purchased a ski cabin in the mountains of West Virginia in August of 2020 to provide some escape and refuge. We have enjoyed spending time between the DC area and the mountains, as have our two dogs. It's probably a safe bet that both the mountains and the dogs will be subjects where appropriate for the next few weeks of assignments!

I have been looking forward to this course as it is something I find interesting and also very different from my regular course requirements to date! I look forward to getting to know the rest of my classmates as well!
