First blog

Hi, my name is Shawna Holloman. I am originally from Brooklyn, New York. I moved to Connecticut at the age of nine. I’ve spent most of my school years doing competitive dance,  graduating high school in 2002.

I have three kids and a dog; one girl and two boys. Like myself, my children are competitive dancers. Classes and competitions can be very time consuming. I’m currently a paraprofessional, employed by CREC.

I am attending Albertus because I am hoping to get a degree in social work. My hope for the future is to become a behavior specialist at correctional facilities for at risk youth.

Three words that best describe me as a writer are expressive, creative and vibrant. The first word is expressive because I'm big on communication. Whether talking, telling or asking, I'm big on using words to explain things. The next is creative. As a mom, an artist and a former dancer, I find that creativity is what grabs people's attention and I use my hands and mind to create new things I have yet to see. Last, but not least, vibrant! I have a great deal of energy, both physically and mentally, body language and tone. I use colors to express the person I am in life and I try to make the most out of life. Good writing should have a conflict, a moving storyline and a resolve.

I will be using my iPhone 11 for a camera, good luck everyone
